A 27-year-old Kona man is being charged with 11 offenses after he was arrested Friday night in a stolen pickup truck, police said Monday.
Isaac K. Abrojena of Captain Cook was charged Sunday morning with auto theft, fraudulent use of license plates, four firearms offenses, marijuana possession and two counts each of promoting a dangerous drug and drug paraphernalia.
His bail was set at $14,250 and his initial court appearance was Monday.
Police say officers responded at 10 p.m. Friday to a report of suspicious activity at the end of King Kamehameha III Extension in Keauhou. They ran a check on the license plate of a 2004 Ford Ranger Abrojena was driving and learned the plate was assigned to another vehicle.
Abrojena was then taken into custody.
Police say the truck was reported stolen from a home Oct. 27 on Sea Breeze Parkway in Ocean View.
Officers searched the truck and reportedly found a sawed-off shotgun with ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including paraphernalia used for ingesting crystal methamphetamine.
